On Sunday 11th November 2018 the village took part in the National Event, Battle’s Over, which started at 6am at the War Memorial with an individual piper playing the traditional Scottish lament played at the end of battle – Battle’s O’er.

The parade of Remembrance set off from the Social Club and paraded to the war memorial, and then on to All Saints Church for the service at 11am. The Villagers at War Exhibition also showed the Remembrance Service at the London Cenotaph from 10.50am.

At the end of the day the Last Post was sounded and the village joined with over 1000 other locations in lighting the beacon on Spy hill at 7pm to symbolise an end to the darkness of war and a return to the light of peace.

At 7.05pm the Church Bells rang out across the Nation, and beyond, in celebration of Peace.
